Government House,

Hongkong, 27th. June, 1903.

With reference to the correspondence noted

Mr. J. Taylor from the Hongkong Police

Force, I have the honour to inform you

that upon receipt of the details set forth

in the enclosure to your Despatch No. 158 of the 5th. ultimo,

I caused further enquiries to be made into the nature of Mr.

Taylor's unfitness for further service in the Police, and

requested the Principal Civil Medical Officer to report

whether the injuries received by him at the fire referred to

in his letter of the 14th. April to your Department were such

as were likely to have a permanent effect on his capacity for

earning his living.

from which it will be seen that in his opinion the injury to

Hospital as fit for duty he was still complaining of his back.

3.

It was pointed out to the Principal Civil

Medical Officer that the certificate issued by him and Dr.
